Overview
FTMO is a proprietary trading evaluation company based in Prague, Czech Republic, that has operated since 2015. Traders buy a 2-Step or 1-Step FTMO Challenge, or an Instant Account with no evaluation, and trade simulated capital on MT4, MT5, cTrader or TradingView. Account balances are offered in several currencies (from $10,000 to $200,000 in the USD version), while the fee itself is stated in EUR. Funded traders receive 80% to 90% of simulated profits depending on the program, and combined starting capital is capped at USD 400,000 per trader before scaling. US residents are referred to an affiliated offering run with OANDA rather than the main site.

Target ÷ loss is the total profit target divided by the max loss limit. Lower means less profit is needed for each unit of risk. Prices are list prices; "Apply discount" takes off the firm's current public code, which may not cover every program. Per $100K converts EUR and GBP at a fixed rate for ranking only. Buy links go to the firm's site; some are affiliate links (PropFirmly may earn a commission).

FTMO states every fee in EUR. Sizes here are the USD account balances; the same fee buys the matching tier in other account currencies (EUR €10K, €20K, €40K, €80K and €160K; GBP £10K, £20K, £35K, £70K and £140K).
Daily loss limit is the balance at midnight CE(S)T minus 5% of the initial balance; maximum loss means equity may never drop below 90% of the initial balance.
Profit target: 10% in the Challenge phase and 5% in the Verification phase. All positions must be closed before a phase is evaluated.
The fee is refunded with the first reward on the FTMO Account.
Reward split starts at 80% and rises to 90% under the Scaling Plan or Premium Programme.
News-release and weekend-holding restrictions apply only on the funded FTMO Account, not during the Challenge or Verification.

Swing is an account-type option inside the 2-Step product only; it is not offered for 1-Step or Instant accounts.
FTMO does not publish a separate Swing price list. Its comparison table lists Standard and Swing under the same 2-Step price (from €89), so the 2-Step fees are shown here; the current €439 offer on the 100K tier is limited to Standard accounts.
Same trading objectives as the Standard 2-Step, but base leverage is 1:30 instead of 1:100.
No restrictions on trading around restricted news releases or holding positions through market closures, including weekends.
A Standard account cannot be switched to Swing after purchase; a Swing account can only be switched to Standard before any trade is placed.

The 10% maximum loss is a balance-based limit that trails the end-of-day balance and never moves down; it resets to 90% of the initial balance after a reward withdrawal on a new account.
Daily loss limit is the balance at midnight CE(S)T minus 3% of the initial balance.
The 50% consistency rule (best day versus total profit) applies to orders created on or after 12 October 2026; older accounts use the previous Best Day Rule (50% of positive days' profit).
FTMO's 1-Step objectives list no minimum number of trading days.
The fee is labelled non-refundable; only the 2-Step fee is refunded.
Passed accounts go to a review that FTMO says typically takes 1 to 4 business days.

The 10% maximum loss trails the highest closed balance in real time (floating profit does not move it) and never decreases. It does not reset after a reward withdrawal.
Only one Instant Account (including the FTMO Account that follows it) can be held at a time.
FTMO Identity verification must be approved before the first reward is processed.
Leverage is up to 1:100 and lower on indices, metals and crypto. Standard-account news and weekend restrictions apply.
The Scaling Plan does not apply to Instant Accounts.
Trading rules
What FTMO lets you do on its accounts, taken from its rules and FAQ pages.
News trading
Allowed with limits
On Standard FTMO Accounts and Instant Accounts, no orders may be opened, closed or triggered from 2 minutes before to 2 minutes after listed high-impact releases on the affected instruments. Challenge and Verification phases and Swing accounts are exempt.
Expert advisors
Allowed
EAs and algorithmic trading are accepted if the strategy is replicable on a live account. Platform servers allow up to 200 open orders and 2,000 positions per day; shared third-party EAs can count toward the capital allocation limit.
Copy trading
Allowed with limits
Identical or near-identical trading across accounts, including trades copied from signal groups or copy services, is added together against the USD 400,000 allocation limit, and accounts over the limit can be suspended. Trading on behalf of or with other people is prohibited.
Overnight holding
Allowed
Overnight positions are allowed. On Standard FTMO Accounts and Instant Accounts, positions must be closed before any market break longer than 2 hours.
Weekend holding
Allowed with limits
Allowed during the Challenge and Verification and on Swing accounts. Standard FTMO Accounts and Instant Accounts must close positions before the weekend market close.
Rules to read before you buy
Combined initial capital across all FTMO accounts is capped at USD 400,000 (or equivalent) per trader or strategy; the Premium Programme can raise it.
All positions and pending orders must be closed before a phase or reward request is evaluated.
Risk management rules prohibit position sizes or trade counts far out of line with the trader's usual activity and stacked exposure in one or correlated symbols.
A 0.7% adjustment is applied to realised profit or loss on positions quoted in a currency other than the account currency.
Fees are stated in EUR and are not refundable except for the 2-Step refund paid with the first reward.
Inactivity: FTMO may terminate an account if no trade is opened for 30 consecutive days, or if a loss of 8% to 10% of the initial balance is held for more than 30 days. Each Challenge phase or Instant Account must be activated with a first trade within 30 days of being issued.
How the drawdown works
Static (2-Step, 2-Step Swing)
The loss limit is fixed at a set distance below your starting balance and never moves.
End-of-day trailing (1-Step)
The loss limit moves up once a day, based on your end-of-day balance, and ignores swings during the session.
Balance trailing (Instant Account)
The loss limit rises with your closed balance as you make profit, so it follows your gains.
