What each rule means

News trading
Whether you may hold or open positions around scheduled economic releases. Firms that limit it usually set a window of a few minutes either side of high-impact news, and may remove profit made inside that window rather than fail the account. See the firms that allow it.
Expert advisors
Whether automated strategies may trade the account. Many firms allow them but ban specific behaviour, such as high-frequency trading, latency arbitrage or copying the same strategy across many traders. See the firms that allow it.
Copy trading
Whether trades may be copied between your own accounts or from a signal provider. Firms that allow it usually count copied accounts toward one combined funding limit.
Overnight holding
Whether positions may stay open through the daily close. Most forex and crypto firms allow it. Many futures firms require you to be flat before the session ends.
Weekend holding
Whether positions may stay open from Friday to Monday, when prices can gap. Some firms allow it only on a swing account or with an add-on. See the firms that allow it.

Drawdown types

Drawdown types explained
StaticThe loss limit is fixed at a set distance below your starting balance and never moves.
Balance trailingThe loss limit rises with your closed balance as you make profit, so it follows your gains.
Equity trailingThe loss limit rises with your highest equity, including open profit, so it follows unrealised gains too.
End-of-day trailingThe loss limit moves up once a day, based on your end-of-day balance, and ignores swings during the session.
Intraday trailingThe loss limit follows your highest intraday equity in real time, including open profit that you later give back.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I break a rule?

A hard rule, such as the daily or maximum loss limit, normally fails the account straight away. Softer rules, such as trading through restricted news, may only remove the profit from those trades. Each firm page links to the firm’s own rules for the exact treatment.

Which drawdown type is easiest to manage?

A static drawdown is the easiest to plan around, because the limit never moves. End-of-day trailing ignores swings within the day. Intraday trailing is the strictest, because it follows open profit you later give back.

Do the rules change once I am funded?

Sometimes. Funded accounts often add a consistency rule, a minimum number of trading days before a payout, or tighter news restrictions. Check the funded-stage rules on the firm page before you buy.

Still have a question?

Ask about a firm, a rule or a number that looks wrong. A link to the firm's own page helps us re-check it quickly.
