Crypto prop firms with a refundable challenge fee

Crypto: on these programs the evaluation fee comes back to you once you are funded and receive a qualifying payout. That lowers the real cost of a successful attempt, though it does nothing for attempts that fail. The timing varies: many firms refund with the first payout, while others wait for a later one or attach conditions.

How a refundable fee works

The fee you paid for the evaluation is returned as part of a payout once you are funded and meet the refund condition, most often with the first successful withdrawal. You do not get it back for passing the evaluation alone, and you do not get it back if the account breaches before the qualifying payout.

A refund changes the cost comparison. A program with a higher fee that is refunded can cost less overall than a cheaper one that is not, provided you reach the qualifying payout. If you buy several attempts before passing, usually only the fee for the account that pays out is refunded, so earlier attempts remain a cost.

Before buying, check which payout triggers the refund, whether it covers add-ons, resets or activation fees, and whether the refund is included in the price or sold as an extra at checkout. Also check how the refund is paid, for example in cash with the withdrawal or in another form.

Frequently asked questions

When is the challenge fee refunded?

Most often with the first payout from the funded account, but some programs refund with a later payout or only once a minimum amount has been withdrawn. The refund is not paid for passing the evaluation on its own.

Are add-ons and resets refunded too?

Usually not. Refunds normally cover the base evaluation fee, while optional add-ons, resets, retries and activation fees are often excluded. The firm's refund terms say exactly what is covered.

Do I lose the refund if my funded account breaches?

If the breach happens before the qualifying payout, the refund is usually lost along with the account. Once the refund has been paid with a withdrawal, a later breach does not normally take it back.
